Once a vaudeville theatre as part of the great Coliseum Theatre, then opening as the Independent Theatre in 1939 by Dame Doris Fitton (DBE) the venue has stood the test of time, has survived a fire and now stands proudly as a heritage listed venue and the hidden gem in busy North Sydney. The Independent Theatre, now owned and operated by Wenona School not only provides the students of Wenona with access to a industry venue for the Performing Arts but it opens its doors to the greater community, a venue for community use and togetherness, something we need more than ever in the post COVID-19 era.
